Music at FUMC

FUMC offers several opportunitnes for music. We have two vocal choirs, the Chancel Choir, which usualy sings at the 10:30 service; and the Celebration Choir, which usually sings at the 8:00 service. We also have a handbell choir, the Alleluia Ringers, who usually ring once a month, as well as a Children's Choir, which sings quarterly. FUMC also has a Praise Band, with drums, guitar, piano, and vocals, which generally plays at the 8:00 service.

The People of FUMC Music:

Travis Kornegay, Coordinator of Music Ministries
Travis has been living in Greeley for the past 4 years to attend the University of Northern Colorado where he is pursuing his doctorate in Choral Conducting. Travis holds degrees in Vocal Performance and Vocal and Piano Pedagogy from Methodist College in Fayetteville, North Carolina and Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas. His talents includes directing church and university choirs, directing opera scenes, directing musicals, and teaching college courses at the University. Travis has won several awards including the prestigious Chaminade Music Award. Besides making music, Travis loves watching movies and enjoys the outdoors. He is currently coordinator of music, drama, and liturgical dance at FUMC.

Norma Vang, Organist & Bell Choir Director
Norma began studying piano at the age of 5, and in later childhood also studied flute and organ. In 1972, she won 1st Place in the Minnesota Music Teacher's Association Competition (Organ Division) and received a talent scholarship in the Miss Minnesota Pageant. Her college days where spent at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota and at Bemidji State college where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music, and later, a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. In 1976, she performed Beethoven's Concerto No. 3 in C minor with the Bemidji Symphony Orchestra. In Bemidji, she also served as adjunct faculty serving as accompanist and organ instructor. Norma presently teaches piano, flute, and organ and accompanies music students at UNC. Ms. Schalles is a member of the Fornigthly Music Club and Greeley Area Music Teacher's Association.
